# Jira

> Add a task to an Audimate workflow each time a Jira work item is created, using an automation rule that sends a web request.

A Jira automation flow can send each new work item to Audimate. You need permission to manage
automation in the Jira space.

## Get your URL in Audimate

**1. Open the workflow's Triggers tab**

Open the workflow that should get the tasks, then choose the **Triggers** tab.

**2. Choose Add trigger, then the app**

Search for **Jira** and select it.

**3. Pick the event**

When Jira offers more than one event, pick the one that should add a task, then choose
**Continue**. Every other event it sends is skipped.

**4. Copy the URL**

Choose **Copy**. You see the URL once, so leave this window open until you've pasted it. The setup
waits until the event arrives.

## Create the flow in Jira

**1. Open the space's automation**

In Jira, find the space in the side navigation, choose **More actions (…)**, then **Space
settings**, then **Automation**.

**2. Start a new flow**

Choose **Create flow**, then **Create from scratch**.

**3. Choose the trigger**

Pick **Work item created**, or the change that should add a task in Audimate.

**4. Add Send web request**

Add an action and choose **Send web request**. Paste the Audimate URL and set the method to
**POST**.

**5. Send the work item**

For the web request body, choose **Work item data (Jira format)**.

**6. Turn it on**

Choose **Turn it on**. Then create a work item in the space, so Jira sends its first event.

A Jira flow doesn't sign what it sends, so leave **Signing secret** empty. If your Jira admin sends
events from a Jira webhook with a secret instead, paste that secret into **Signing secret** and
choose **Save**.

## Finish in Audimate

**1. Choose Next**

Back in Audimate, the setup says **Your first event arrived**. Choose **Next**.

**2. Fill in each field**

For each task field, pick the part of the event that fills it. Under each field you see what this
event gives it.

**3. Choose where new tasks go**

Pick **Inbox** to start tasks yourself, or your pick-up list to have them start on their own.

**4. Choose Turn on**

The trigger's switch turns on, and each new event now adds a task.

See [Triggers](/concepts/triggers.md) for what each warning under a field means.

## If nothing arrives

> **The flow ran but no event arrived**
>
> Open the flow's audit log in Jira. If it shows the web request failed, check the URL was pasted
> whole. Your Jira admin can also block outside addresses for automation.
